Where's the Math!?

HEY MATHEMATICIANS!

We are so excited to be able to interact with you here on our website!  Check out the picture below and tell us about the math you see.

We can't wait to read all of your wonderful mathematical thinking!

Check back each week because there will be a new picture!

Max wonders what is stacked. Are they pillows? How many are there?

Charlotte wonders how many there are. You could skip count by the amount in each stack.

I notice that bags are stacked, and they have tags on them. I wonder if they are filled with sand, and I wonder where they are? The math is counting all the bags.

I notice there are tags on a few of the bags and there is probably 2000 bags there. I think there is sand in those bags.

All the rows are different heights. The middle is the highest.

I wonder what is in the bags? Their is not an equal amount of bags
in each stack. I wonder how much bags there are?

I see sacks pilled high. The middle is the highest. It is piled at least 17 sacks high.

In one pile,I could count 35 bags. And there is another 35 behind them. So there are 70 bags in one pile. I can see 6 piles, but I know there are more than 6 piles, but they're not in the picture. These bags look like they are heavy. I wonder why all the bags have a blue line around them.

The bags have poundage and the bags can be counted.

There are a lot of pillows. I wonder how many pillows there are. The math is the area and the perimeter.

I wonder what is in the bags. It looks like the middle is the highest. It would be easier to count the total by counting the bags in each column and then adding those together. I could also make a multiplication sentence about it.

The math is the bags! We have to guess how many bags there are. I counted 15 bags in a stack. Then I asked my mom what 15+15 was. I wonder how may bags there are?

I wonder why there are so many bags and what is in them. The Math is the picture to estimate how many bags there could be by counting by 10s.

THat's like base 10. I think that the bags are like base 10 because there's big amounts and small amounts. One reason is some are tall and some are small. Another reason is they're kind of like stacks of 10, to make it easier to count them. I wonder what's in the bag? Maybe sand or dirt.

Another thing I spot is triangles. They can be used to count, too. They have three sides and they're easier to build with.
