Great thinking, Tyris! We can even write that as an equation!
1 Large Gold Ball = Large Black Ball + Medium Black Ball + Small Black Ball.

The gold ball is = to the silver balls because the scale was straight.

There are 4 balls on the scale. there are 3 silver balls and 1 gold ball. That is 1 ball+3 balls=4 balls. The scale is balanced which means that the gold ball's weight is equal to the three silver ball's weight.

Great job, Lia! You saw so much geometry. I have a new word for you. The math word for a ball is a sphere. Keep up the great thinking!

The gold ball is equal to the three silver balls. I know this because the scale is balanced and not uneven.

it looks like the gold ball could be 60 pounds and the big silver ball could be 30 and the medium sized ball is 20 and the small 10
